1. Unusual circumstances surround the hero’s birth or creation or origin
2. The main character is a hero, who is often possessed of supernatural abilities or qualities.
3. Hero faces trials and enemies while struggling on an epic journey
4. The presence of mythical beings, or human helpers.
5. Setting is vast and may involve a good deal of travel
6. The cycle must reach a low point where the hero nearly gives up quest or appears defeated and then has a resurrection.
7. At the end of the journey, the hero must complete a final task alone.
8. After the final task is successfully accomplished, the hero returns home, a leader of his people or dead!
